  • 1.Who can take out mobile phone insurance?

    You must be a UK resident aged 18 years or over to take out a gadget insurance policy through Protect Your Gadget. Google owners under the age of 18, that live in the same household as the policy holder, will need a parent or other carer to purchase a policy on their behalf.

  • 2.Is my mobile phone eligible for cover?

    We can insure mobile phone(s) that are:

    • purchased new or refurbished from a UK VAT registered company, or the equivalent tax registration if purchased overseas, and supplied with a proof of purchase.
    • purchased second hand or gifted to you, provided that you have the proof of purchase (which corresponds to notes 1 above) and a signed letter from the original owner confirming that you own the gadget(s). The signed letter must include the following details of your gadget(s):
      • either the IMEI or serial number (whichever is applicable);
      • the make and model;
      • the sale price;
      • confirmation that the gadget(s) were in full working order at the time of sale.
    • registered and appear on your Schedule of Insurance.
    • no more than 7 months old at the time you purchase a personal plan or less than 36 months at the time you add it to a bundle
  • 3.What if the damage to my mobile phone is cosmetic but it still works?

    Cover is only provided in cases where a phone is damaged to the point where routine functionality has been lost. If it is dented or scratched, for example, but still works as expected then repair or replacement will not be provided.
